Osteopathic Manual Therapists are trained to find imbalances in the body (often very subtle). They identify restrictions in motion and through manual manipulation, bring the body's structure back into balance. This re-balancing can address specific issues as well as supporting the body as a whole system so that the body is in a better position to heal itself.
Chiropractors help ease their patients pain, enabling them to live the active and pain-free lives they want. Chiropractors are spine, muscle and nervous system experts who specialize in assessing, diagnosing, treating and developing care plans to ease pain and keep you moving. They treat neck pain, back pain, arthritis, certain types of headaches, injuries and more through the utilization of various treatment techniques depending on your needs.
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a system of assisted stretching which focuses on the muscles, joints, and connective tissue. In this 60 min maintenance session, your body is guided through a full set of movement patterns .The aim of this is to release any restrictions that have been built up over time in areas that are overloaded. You should leave this session feeling loose and light and mobile. For best maintenance these treatments should be done monthly. This therapy is in combination with other PT techniques.
Dry needling is also called trigger point dry needling for myofascial trigger point dry needling. The therapists place the needles directly into trigger points. It is done by acupuncturists, some chiropractors, medical doctors, and certified physical therapists (PTs) to treat myofascial pain. This is a short treatment (max 10 minutes) Acupuncture uses the same needles but is placed in meridians and is also known to diminish pain effectively. This treatment usually lasts 15-20 minutes. Both therapies are done in combination with other PT techniques.
Myofascial release focuses on relieving trigger points throughout the body. Trigger points are painful muscle knots. This is often where scar tissue has built-up or where the fascia and muscle tissue have become stuck together. In turn, this causes increased muscle tension and pain. Frequently used in massage therapy and physical therapy sessions, myofascial release involves the application of pressure on these trigger points. The goal is to stretch and massage the area so that it releases the tension and reduces the pain. This therapy is in combination with other PT techniques.
